dc.description.abstractTNA (Training Needs Assessment) requires a systematic approach to identify what the professionals of banks need to learn for the company to achieve its goals. In most banks individual professionals must develop their skill sets as and when needed. In some companies, individual professionals participate in training programmes on a regular basis. Banks provide various kinds of training to individual professionals, like induction training, soft-skills development training, banking operational training, functional training, attitudinal training, skills development training, quality assurance training, managerial skills development training. The study focuses on the different need assessment techniques used in different public and private sector banks. The study concludes that all banks have different need assessment techniques and a majority of the respondents were agreed that the following techniques are used in their banks like; work samples, simulations, questionnaires, diaries/tests, psychometric tests, by assessment/ development centers, manpower planning, recruitment, selection, determining gaps between job requirement & job performance, organizational and operational analysis, performance and potential appraisal, training and development research, executive skills inventory, performance test method.-
