dc.description.abstractThe present research paper is a study on the performance of the banking sector of our country. The main focus of the paper is to not only capture the efficiency level of the large public and private sector banks but also to determine any significant difference in their relative efficiency levels. For the purpose, data is collected for sixteen Indian banks taking eight each from the public and private sector covering the data period from 2004-05 to 2011-12.-
