dc.description.abstract | The combined use of organic manures and inorganic fertilizers has significant influence on the growth, flowering and yield in tomato under polyhouse condition was investigated. Among different levels of combinations (20, 40 and 60% N through organics), the combination of 60% through organic plus 40% through inorganic (urea) was found superior. for most of the traits under study and it was followed by 40% N through organics and 60% N through in organics. Regarding different sources of organic N, it was observed that, the neem cake was found to be the best followed by poultry manure and FYM, respectively. The treatment combination of 60% N through neem cake along with 40% N through urea (T10 ) has produced significan tly superior results in terms of the growth parameters like plant height (225. 03 cm), number of primary branches (24. 13), secondary branches (34. 87) and number of flowers per plant (127. 53). The yield per plant (3. 59 kg), yield per plot (78. 97 kg) and per hectare (113. 02 t) were also significantly superior in the said treatment and it was statistically at par with the treatment of 60% N through poultry manure plus 40% N through urea (T7 ), and 40% N through neem cake along with 60% through urea (T9 ) and they were significantly superior over rest of the treatments. Hence, it was concluded that, for getting optimum growth, higher yield of quality fruits the crop should be supplied with the recommended dose of NPK fertilizers (100-50-50 kg/ ha), the 60% quantity of N should be applied through neem cake and 40%N through urea. | - |
