Section One of this paper analyses India's export performance in detail over the last 20 years approximately drawing on a range of data sources, most particularly the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) material. A particular focus of the paper is the extent to which India has been exporting knowledge intensive goods and services as a basis for enhanced and sustained wealth creation. Comparative assessments with other nations are made. Section Two of this paper examines critically the Modi Government's policy approach to stimulating export performance, and provides further policy solutions.en_US
