Abstract: With rapid globalization, firms parti clearly those in the service sector must continuously update their employ employees through training and development for competitive advantage. One way to do so is via t: effective human resource development practices (thereafter termed as HRD). The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between human resource development (HRD) practices and Training & development. We employed a cross-sectional design with a sample comprised of 178 from three private sector banks of Delhi and NCR. Independent variables comprised of four HRD practices (performance appraisal, potential appraisal, career planning and performance counseling). Training and development served as our dependent variables. The study highlights the profound role played by HRD practices in stimulating T&D in the context of the Indian banking sector.
