Right to Food: A Critical Study on Food Security Laws in India with Special Reference to Karnataka State

Abstract

To survive on a basic level, a person needs nutritious food. Man cannot go for long intervals without eating. “Food, Clothing, and Shelter are the necessities of every human being right from the beginning of civilization”2 . Food is not only an essential part of human life, but it also significantly affects social connections. According to the hypothesis of the hierarchy of wants, the need for food should come before the need for clothing and shelter. It serves as the foundation upon which all other needs are carried out. Without proper and minimum nutritious food, life cannot be expected. However, not everyone has equal access to wholesome food. Inequality, climate change, and poverty are only a few of the numerous variables that affect the complex problem of food security. Many people experience financial challenges worldwide, which contributes to malnutrition and other health problems. This is especially true for the elderly, small children, and other vulnerable populations. To guarantee that everyone has access to enough food, governments and other organizations must cooperate.
