Franchising is a relatively new but fast growing industry in India. Yet, unlike other countries it is not regulated by laws specific to franchising. As a result, laws covering contracts, property and agency apply. Unless timely action is taken by all the players - local, state and central government as well as franchisors and franchisees - to end the chaotic, free-for- all method or doing business, few unscrupulous players will find a fertile ground to earn big profits.-
