The Mauritian success story in this informal sector (SMEs) has never been denied. The authorseized this good opportunity to understand the power of ideas in managing people. These 'ideas in managing people' are material structures such as markets, entrepreneurs, national Human Resource (HR) institutions, geographical landscapes and organisational structures which are capable of influencing HR actors. A country like Mauritius has all these good qualities. Facts and figures from the Central Survey Office reveal that SMEs are contributing to the economic and social development of the country. SMEs are generating a gross output worth Rs 42.1 billion and take the lion's share of the total employment and 21 % of the working population is actually working in their own family enterprises. In this research paper, the author tries to identify some pillars which may enhance the entrepreneurial minds in the informal sector and SMEs have been identified to support this research. Other developing countries may eventually inspire from this model to enhance the entrepreneurial minds to alleviate poverty arid allow their people to be wealthier. The entrepreneurial mind is present but it must encouraged.-
