Abstract: Risk Based Internal Audit (RBIA) in Indian banks was initiated in 2002 and substantial progress has been made in its implementation. Surveys conducted by the author during 2007-08 and 2010-11 indicate that the progress in implementation has not been uniform across banks and several gaps exist in the process adopted.
