Abstract: In the world of technology majority of working environments are automated and interoperable as a smart factory while the industry 4.0 idea is being implemented, with Cyber Physical Systems, the Internet of Things, and Big Data being processed in real time utilizing cloud computing. Businesses and occupations alike have changed because of Industry 4.0. Project manager for industry 4.0 is one of those occupations that has expanded with the introduction of industry 4.0. Because it is a difficult job with many variables, traditional project management practices must be changed for the fourth industrialization. Within the first part of the 18th century, the first industrial revolution started, transforming the steam engine into the mechanization of factories. The second industrial revolution started in the second part of the nineteenth century because of the use of electricity in massive mass production. The third industrial revolution made it possible for Cheng, et al. to accomplish automated manufacturing in the second half of the 20th century using both electrical and computer technologies (2016). The Digital Revolution, often known as Industry 4.0, is the current Fourth Industrial Revolution. A multitude of industries, including robots, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, quantum computing, biotechnology, the Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing, augmented reality, autonomous vehicles, systems, and manufacturing are seeing advancements because to this digital technology. There are numerous changes and problems in the role of the industry 4.0 project manager after examining the prerequisite knowledge and duties of traditional software development project managers and industry 4.0 project managers. While the idea of Industry 4.0 is being implemented, industrialization is a difficult process with many variations. Transformations include digitizing and automating manufacturing operations, connecting various machines with multiple software platforms, and tying departments together within the production environment, gathering and analyzing big data stream, providing data to partners like suppliers and machine builders, monitoring IoT predictive maintenance and cloud platforms, and virtualizing the development process. Although most previous studies focus on technological aspects, this study is one of the early attempts to emphasize the significance of industry 4.0 project management in the effective implementation of the fourth industrial revolution.
