Abstract: Any company operation, particularly those in the hospitality sector, must carefully manage its inventory. The housekeeping division of hotels manages the inventory of different things, including linen, toiletries, and cleaning supplies. For cost optimisation and process improvement, effective inventory management is essential. In this examination of the literature, we will contrast the inventory management methods used by two well-known hotel chains, TAJ and ITC, regarding their housekeeping operations. Inventory management is an important part of any corporate organisation since it plays a critical role in maintaining the seamless operation of activities. The hospitality sector is no exception, and maintaining inventory in the housekeeping department is critical. This research aims to perform a comparative analysis of the inventory management practices of TAJ and ITC hotels in their housekeeping departments. The research will concentrate on finding the best practices in inventory management, cost optimisation, and process improvement strategies. Inventory management is described as the process of supervising product and material inventory levels, guaranteeing proper stock availability, and minimising the cost of keeping inventory. Effective inventory management ensures that the correct items are available in the right quantity at the right time, boosting the firm’s overall efficiency. Inventory management is critical in the hotel business for the housekeeping department, which is responsible for the cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep of guest rooms, public spaces, and amenities.
