Abstract: In this era of smart living, the paradigm of home automation has undergone a transformative evolution, advancing beyond conventional interfaces. This project proposes an innovative and secure solution for smart home control, leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as MediaPipe, Raspberry Pi, fingerprint sensors, and RFID cards. The primary objective is to offer users an intuitive and secure means of managing household appliances, with a specific emphasis on gesture-controlled lighting. The existing landscape of home automation primarily relies on manual switches or mobile applications for appliance control. While these approaches have been widely adopted, they lack the fitness and natural interaction that contemporary users seek. Gesture control, facilitated by MediaPipe and Raspberry Pi's computational prowess, emerges as a compelling alternative. However, the existing systems often fall short in addressing the critical aspect of security, leaving homes vulnerable to unauthorized access. To bridge this security gap, the existing system incorporates a multi-layered authentication mechanism. The initial phase involves the use of MediaPipe, enabling real-time hand tracking and gesture recognition. Building upon this, a Raspberry Pi equipped with a camera captures and processes the user's gestures. However, recognizing the necessity for stringent security measures, the system extends its capabilities with the integration of a fingerprint sensor and an RFID card reader. The world of smart technology is constantly evolving, and home automation is becoming increasingly integrated into our daily lives. As we seek more intuitive and seamless interactions with our living spaces, traditional modes of controlling household appliances are being redefined. This project introduces an innovative approach to home automation that combines gesture-based control with robust biometric and RFID authentication to enhance both the user experience and the security of smart living environments. The motivation behind this endeavor is to create a system that not only responds to natural human gestures but also ensures the utmost security in access control. Traditional home automation systems often rely on manual switches or mobile applications, which lack the finesse and immediacy that contemporary users seek. Gesture control, facilitated by technologies such as Media Pipe and Raspberry Pi, offers a more intuitive and engaging means of managing appliances.
