dc.description.abstract | The need for innovative healthcare solutions that improve elderly people's access, results, and quality of life—especially for those living in retirement facilities—is growing due to the world's aging population. This dissertation investigates the potential of telemedicine and remote patient monitoring (RPM) technologies to address these challenges through a case study at the Vedaanta Vaibhava Retirement Community. Motivated by personal experiences highlighting transportation difficulties faced by the elderly, this dissertation investigates the impact of these technologies on healthcare access for old-age home residents. Utilizing questionnaires and medical record analysis, a quantitative research approach was used to evaluate the effects of RPM and telemedicine on healthcare outcomes, caregiver-provider communication, and healthcare access. The results showed that citizens' perceptions of their access to healthcare were positively correlated with these technologies' availability. However efficient communication channels between residents, caregivers, and medical professionals became apparent as a critical factor in maximizing the advantages of telemedicine. The study emphasizes the potential of these technologies to improve healthcare delivery; however, it also shows the necessity of implementing customized implementation techniques and establishing strong communication protocols in assisted living environments.
