dc.description.abstractArtificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision have become increasingly important in various fields of medicine, including surgery. AI-based computing vision systems have shown great potential in assisting surgeons during surgery, improving surgical outcomes, and reducing the risks of complications. In this abstract, we will discuss some of the current breakthroughs and future perspectives in surgery based on AI-based computing vision. One of the most significant breakthroughs in this field has been the development of image-guided surgery. Using preoperative imaging, AI-based computing vision systems can create a three-layered guide of the patient’s life structures, allowing surgeons to accurately plan and execute surgical procedures. These systems can also help surgeons identify and avoid critical structures, such as nerves and blood vessels, during the surgery. Another breakthrough has been the development of surgical robots, which use AI-based computing vision to assist surgeons during procedures. These robots can provide high-resolution, 3D imaging and can be used to control surgical instruments with greater precision and accuracy than human hands. © 2024 Scrivener Publishing LLC.
