Abstract: The industry deserved protection and promotion in the context of its large employment potential. The coir producing countries have to work hand in hand for marketing their products globally, instead of competing with each other. The Present Study was conducted to find out the rural entrepreneur's socio economic background and their coir business. The Sample of 55 entrepreneurs (both male and female) was chosen from pollachi Taluk, Coimbatore city. The selfprepared questionnaire was used to study the socio economic background, the facilitative factors to start the business, sources of funds, problems encountered by the rural entrepreneurs. It was hypothesized that training given by government has no significant effect on the business. The Statistical tests like simple percentage analysis; chi square was applied to analyze the results.
