Abstract: | Marketers always optimize their marketing strategies so that the consumers are affected to make purchase decisions. Consumers are all the time exposed to visually appealing and well-displayed products as well as captivating promotions. This intrigues them to buy the products impulsively. The present research aimed to investigate the factors of impulsive consumption, namely materialism, financial quantitative literacy, and subjective numeracy. The research was conducted on 179 senior high school economics teachers in Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Stratified random sampling was employed and the data were gathered from July 2017 to January 2018 and were analyzed using WarpPLS 5.0. The results showed that the influence of materialism was positive and significant on impulsive consumption ; the influence of financial quantitative literacy was negative and significant on impulsive consumption; materialism partly mediated negative influences, which was significant for impulsive consumption; the influence of subjective numeracy was negative and not significant on impulsive consumption; materialism fully mediated the negative influences; and influence of subjective numeracy was significant on impulsive consumption. |
