dc.description.abstractAn Automatic Optic Disc detection in retinal images used to screen eye related diseases like diabetic retinopathy. Many techniques are available to detect Optic Disc in high contrast retinal images. Unfortunately, there are no efficient methods to detect Optic Disc in low-quality retinal images. The objective of this research paper is to develop an automated method for detection of Optic Disc in low quality retinal images. This paper proposed a modified directional matched filter parameters of the retinal blood vessels to localize the center of optic disc also made comparative analysis of our method with STARE and DIARETDB0 dataset. The proposed method was implemented in MATLAB and evaluated both normal and abnormal low quality retinal images using the subset of the DRIVE, MESSIDOR, STARE, DIARETDB0 and University of Lincoln and the success percentage was found to be an average of 98.82% for all datasets. This automated method helps ophthalmologists in the screening process of Diabetic Retinopathy to find symptoms and earlier detection of diseases in less computational time. © Research India Publications.en_US
