Nowadays, nanofibers are receiving great attention due to their biocompatibility, biodegradability, hemocompatibility, mechanical properties, and nontoxic nature. Nanofibers are cylindrical structures generally synthesized by electrospinning, self-assembly, and phase separation. It has found medical, pharmaceuticals, textiles, the food sector, air filtration, and water purification applications. Among the various applications, it is extensively studied for biomedical applications like wound healing, drug delivery, wound dressing, and tissue engineering. Functionalized nanofibers can enhance wound healing by successfully enhancing cell adhesion, growth, and proliferation. Hence, this chapter specifically includes the recent progress in nanofiber research, nanofibers based on chitosan, cellulose, starch, silk fibroin, and collagen, and their potential in wound healing and wound dressing applications. © 2023 Elsevier Inc.
