Abstract: Bionanocomposites based on natural materials are receiving great attention due to their superior performance over synthetic material-based composites. Nowadays, they have found applications in automotive, food packaging, aerospace, medical, pharmaceuticals and electronics. The major drawbacks associated with natural fiber-based composites can be overcome by the incorporation of nanoparticles. Several studies also reported that natural fiber-based bionanocomposites have enhanced mechanical, thermal, water barrier and other properties. This chapter will discuss natural fibers, modifications and bionanocomposites based on kenaf fiber, banana fiber, cotton fiber, sisal fiber, date palm fiber, kapok fiber and bamboo fiber and their morphological, thermal and mechanical properties. © 2024 The right of Chandrasekar Muthukumar, Senthil Muthu Kumar Thiagamani, Senthilkumar Krishnasamy and Ahmad Ilyas Rushdan.
