Abstract: Electric Vehicles (EVs) have gained popularity in recent years due to higher efficiency and lesser pollution. EVs mainly contain converters (DC-DC and DC-AC) for voltage regulation and controlled power flow. Buck and Boost converters are popular converters that are used in 48V Mild Hybrid EV applications. In this work, the time taken by the Central Processing Unit (CPU) to provide the inductor current and the output voltage values for an ideal and practical buck and boost converters operating in Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) is found Tic and Toc commands using MATLAB 2018A and 2021B versions using Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE) and Symbolic Expression (SYMS) solvers. It is found that the ODE solver provides a faster response as it uses numerical techniques to solve the coupled governing equations. Though the versions of the software are different, CPU execution time remains unchanged for ODE solvers.
