Nigeria has had a chequered political history since independence. The country's economic crisis apparently bears some relation with the political circumstance, which includes the rising cost of governance. To this end, the paper using an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) approach, examines the welfare implications of this rising cost of governance in Nigeria between 1990 and 2009 using quarterly data based on econometric tools.-
