This paper begins with an introduction to Assertiveness Training and explains what true assertive behaviour is, and how it facilitates interpersonal communication at work. The paper provides an in-depth explanation of the possible personality dimensions and attitudes that manifest themselves in assertive behaviour Assertiveness is discussed from both the theorists' as well as the practitioners' perspectives. The paper also reports relevant findings from an empirical study conducted in India. Besides being informative, and grounded in theory, the paper helps understand how to be appropriately assertive within the organizational context.-
