Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to measure financial performance of Public Sector Commercial Banks in India.: The researchers collect, compile and analyze published data. The data relating to income, expenditure and profit are collected from the Reports on trends and progress of hanking in India of RBI over the period 2005 to 2013. Non-parametric inferential statistical tools are used to arrive at conclusion. The results reveal that the nationalized banks performance is better than that of the SBI group. The study depends more on empirical procedures rather than theoretical proof. The researcher has drawn conclusions analyzing the secondary data over a period of nine financial years. The sample size for the study was only two groups of banks. Financial performance represents the operational and financial efficiency of the banks. A better financial performance indicates the ability of banks to meet the modem day challenges of banking in the globalised economy.
