Abstract: Present investigation were carried out in Lysimeter and field experiments at .E. Borlaug Crop Research Center of G. 8. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar during ra.bi season of 2010-11 on "Growth attributes and water use efficiency of vegetable pea cv. PSM 3 in different water table conditions under lysirneter study under three irrigation schedules (IW: CPE as 0.6 and 1.0 and at vegetative and flowering stages) with two irrigation methods (flood and sprinkler) in lysimeters associated with 30±1.5, 60±1.5 and 90±1.5 cm water tables as well as under field with deep water table conditions (190 to 210 cm). The experiment was conducted using randomized block design with two replications in lysimeter (3 fac tors) and six replications in field condition (2 factors). The analyzed data of experiments have shown that maximum plant height, number of leaves, number of branches, leaf area, were observed to be 58.53 cm, 29.00, 2.71, and 14.57 cm2 respectiv_ely, under the irrigation schedule at IW: CPE 1.0 using sprinkler method of irrigation. The total water use (ET) was highest (498.05 mm) during entire crop duration in lysimeter and was 214.40 mm and maximum pod yield (11194.44 (kg ha· 1 ) under field conditions when irrigated at IW / CPE ratio 1.0 through sprinkler method. Maximum wa ter use efficiency (WUE) in lysimeters was observed 51.03 kg ha· 1 mm· 1 when irriga tions were given at vegetative and flowering stages. Results further showed remarkably higher values of growth parameters in field experiment, w hen crop was irrigated at an IW / CPE ratio of 1.0 receiving a total of 4 irrigations under sprinkler method. Maximum WUE of 74.83 kg ha· 1 mm· 1 was observed when irrigation scheduled at vegetative and flowering stages through sprinkler method in field experiment.
