dc.description.abstractField experiment was conducted at Nagaland during 2009 and 2010 to study the Differential responses in production efficiency of rice, energy budgeting and soil improvement to organic fertilization" under rain fed condition on a sandy loam soil.The highest growth, yield attributes and yield of paddy (5. 05t/ha) was recorded in the treatment 50% RDNPK (Recommended dose of N, P and K is 80-26. 2-33. 3 kg/ha)+ 1. 3 t/ha of poultry manure (contains 1.52%- 0.82%- 0.87% N, P and K). The total uptake of N, P and K (94. 91kg/ha, 23. 82 kg/ha and 122. 91 kg/ha) and Net energy output (162. 21 x 103 MJ) was significantly higher in the treatment. The treatment recorded the highest net return (Rs. 43349 /-) and B:C (3.47) ratio, crop profitability (Rs. 346.57 /ha/day), economic production efficiency (40.4 and 99.76 kg/ha/day), net return. The treatment recorded highest available N, P and K (130.87 kg/ha, 32.03 kg/ha K 113 kg/ha) after the experimentation.-
