Abstract: The study deals with a major problem of variation in project schedules in project management which is analysed by studying the various parameters responsible for delays from planned schedule and for this existing literature are studied. A case study of electrical transmission line power distribution project is undertaken. The project is divided into six phases and scheduling parameters for each phase are analysed with the help of parameter score given by the relevant experts. This score is derived from pre-set modules like impact, frequency of occurrence, cost involved and mitigation level. On the basis of these parameter scores it has been found that Low level of connectivity and discussion between site engineers and design engineers and Faulty or unclear design along with Delay at the various permissions and approvals needed comes out to be most important parameters for project schedule variations. Hence this methodology proves helpful in curbing the project schedule related risks.
