Abstract: | In this numerical investigation, three dimensional Minichannel Heat Sink (MCHS) models with straight, chevron, triangular and wavy channels having multiple undulations were investigated. Reynolds number and coolant inlet temperatures were varied from 50 to 300 and 10°C to 25°C respectively under 100,000 W/m2 input heat flux. Effect of input parameters on pressure drop and base surface temperature were studied. Chevron geometry had the highest cooling capacity in terms of lowest base plate temperature at same number of undulations as Triangle and Wavy. Chevron also exhibited highest pressure drop amongst all configurations. Lowering of coolant inlet temperature from 25°C to 10°C led to decrease of base surface temperature of approximately 17-30°C depending on inlet Reynolds No. |
