Abstract: Biosorption of Reactive Red 120 from an aqueous solution using Ludwigia peploides biomass was investigated. Biosorbent dosage (0.2 to 1.0 g/L), initial solution pH ( 1-7) and initial dye concentration ( 15 to 110 mg/L) for the maximum uptake of dye removal by L. peploides was studied. The maximum dye uptake capacity was found to be 132 mg/ g at an initial dye concentration of 110 mg/L. Equilibrium data were analyzed by Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherm. Freundlich model fitted very well for equilibrium data obtained. Kinetics data fit well with pseudo-second order when compared to pseudo-second order models. The functional groups present in the L. peploides were analyzed by FTIR spectra. The surface morphology of the L. peploides biomass was analyzed by scanning electron micrograph.
