Abstract: | Of the 1.3 billion people who live in absolute poverty around the globe, 70 percent are women. For these women, poverty doesn 'tjust mean scarcity and want. It means rights denied, opportunities curtailed and voices silenced. Against this background of the patriarchal system of society, the women need special attention to ensure their development and participation in the decision making process at home, in the community and governance. · Corporate Social Responsibility is the continuing commitment by business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as that of the local community and society at large. The paper attempts to explore the various activities planned and carried out for women empowerment viz formation and training of Self Help Groups , Group Developments, Capacity Building, Income generation activities. The thrust of these programmes are organizing women and federating them at different level to enhance their social status. |
