Abstract: The present study makes an attempt to analyze the recovery performance of MRB and the causes of defaults. 250 beneficiaries and managers of 27 branches (including the Head Office) were selected and both primary and secondary data were used for the purpose of the study. The timely recovery of loans is a prerequisite for any credit institution, particularly for RRBs with their limited funds for sustained growth and existence. The repayment of loans mainly depends on proper utilization of the loan amount, supply of quality assets, generation of sufficient income from schemes, availability of infrastructural and marketing facilities, willingness to repay, continuous supervision and follow-up visits, interest and initiatives taken by the bank staff and Govt agencies and above all the recovery management of the bank concerned.
