dc.description.abstract | This paper deals with the study on the crystallographic behavior of an inorganic composite coating, Al2O3+ZrO2·5CaO blended in 50:50 by wt. % and was tested as per ASTM G132 standard for the tribological applications. The tribological test was carried out on atmospheric plasma sprayed coated specimens with 100,200 &300µm topcoat thickness and tested on alumina abrasive disk mounted on Pin-on Disk test rig. The three specimens were tested at the normal load of 5, 10, 15 N and 200 rpm. SEM, XRD technique was used for characterization of the as-sprayed and post-wear coating. Results revealed from SEM micrograph that the topcoat primarily subjected to more sliding and less abrasion due to the coexistence of the phases in FCC crystallographic structure and wear mechanism found shadows the effect of three body abrasions. Anti-wear and best performance, specific wear rate recorded for the 300µm coated specimen. | en_US |
