Abstract: Investors' perception regarding various investment avenues affects the choice of investment avenues. People invest their hard earned money to earn return.But, wrong perception may lead to i"ational financial decision and financial loss. Therefore investors' perception regarding various investment avenues must be studied rigorously to understand why people prefer a particular investment avenue over others. The present article reviews the existing literature to understand the perception and preference of retail investors regarding various formal investment avenues.
