Following the UN/DO methodology, some underachieved rural industrial clusters have been selected for 'vision and capacity building' in India. Baruipur surgical instruments manufacturing cluster in West Bengal is one of the selected clusters. In this cluster, the technology upgradation was one of the primary objectives of the cluster development programme. Service centres prepared diagnostic study reports, designed technology transfer programmes and accordingly arranged training modules. After about one decade of the intervention of cluster development agents (CDA), the actual level of assimilation of the transferred technology has been assessed in this study.-
