Abstract: | Large sections of the Indian society today still live in villages and rural areas and are deprived of basic facilities such as financial literacy and credit delivery mechanisms. India has been a witness to extraordinary growth and development in the last few decades. At the same time, India is also a land of contrasts where a large chasm exits-between various sections of the society. Women comprise of a little over half the world's population. However, studies suggest that their contribution to economic growth is dismal and thus unable to reach its full potential. This result in significant socio-economic consequences in the country |
