Field investigations were carried out to study the effect of plant growth substances on sink strength, growth and yield traits of kharif mungbean. During the two years of study foliar sprays of salicylic acid (100, 125,and 150ppm), napthyacetic acid (20, 40, 60 ppm), Sugar (5,7. 5 and 10%), CoC1-z (15 and 30ppm),Ether! (100 and 150ppm) at 35 and 45 days after sowing were compared with water spray and control (no spray). Flower op was checked by the foliar application of NAA@40ppm and SA@ 150ppm. Sink strength enhanced to the maximum in SML668 and ML1265 with SA@150ppm. Spray of 5% sugar had profound effect on pod formation and pod setting. Grain yield improved with the foliar sprays to dilierent extent in the two cultivars. Increase in grain yield was 18. 2% with 5% sugar in SML668 in comparison with the control. On an average the increase in grain yield was 12. 9% with SA@125ppm, 15. 4% with 7. 5% sugar and 20. 5% with ethrel @lO0ppm over no spray in ML1265.-
