Abstract: In the present paper plankton diversity in Kaliasote Reservoir is described. This small sized perianal water body is situated 23° 11 '50"N latitude and 77°24' 30" E longitudes which is 12 km away from Bhopal (Madhya Parades). The water samples were collected during the June 2006 to November 2006 from 5 preselected sampling stations for the quantitative and qualitative estimation of phytoplankton and zooplankton. Result were depicted that among the phytoplankton, Chlorophyceae 39% (200-4850 cell/1) was dominated group followed by Cyanophyceae 32% (290-4600 cell/1) and Bacillariophyceae 29% (200-4000 cell/1) while among the zooplankton, Cladocera 36% (60-450 org/1) was dominated group followed Protozoa 35% (60-400 org/ 1) and Rotifers 29% (67-370 org/1). The result indicates the abundance of planktons (phytoplankton and zooplankton) and high level of primary energy which is subjected to sustainably development of reservoir utility.
